Dear Colleagues,
Â
It is my great pleasure to invite you to the 10th Basel Workshop on Current Concepts of Chest Wall Stabilization and Reconstruction, which will take place from 19th to 20th November 2026 in Basel, Switzerland.

Over the past ten years, the Basel Workshop has developed into one of the leading international educational meetings dedicated exclusively to chest wall surgery. What began as a targeted training initiative has evolved into a unique forum that brings together experts from around the world to discuss current concepts, controversies, innovations and future directions in chest wall stabilization and reconstruction.

This anniversary edition will welcome 25 internationally renowned faculty members from Europe, North America, Australia and the Middle East, representing many of the world’s leading centers for thoracic, trauma and chest wall surgery. Together, they will cover a broad spectrum of clinically relevant topics, including rib and sternum fractures, chest wall resection and reconstruction, new technologies, minimally invasive techniques, navigation, artificial intelligence and complex reconstruction strategies. This 10th-anniversary edition reflects a decade of continuous commitment to education in chest wall surgery and highlights the growing international interest in this rapidly evolving field.
The scientific program has been carefully designed to encourage active discussion and close interaction between the faculty and participants. Going beyond traditional lectures, the workshop focuses on practical decision-making, controversial topics and the exchange of real-world experiences between experts and participants.Â

A particular highlight is the second day of the course, which is entirely devoted to practical training at the University of Basel’s Institute of Anatomy. This practical session offers participants the opportunity to gain direct experience of modern fixation and reconstruction techniques under expert guidance at one of Europe’s most renowned anatomical institutes.
The field of chest wall surgery is becoming increasingly important worldwide. Advances in trauma care, reconstruction, implant technology and multidisciplinary treatment strategies have made this specialty a highly specialized and dynamic area of modern surgery. Our aim is to provide participants with a comprehensive and balanced overview of current evidence, established techniques and future developments.

Supported by international scientific societies and led by an outstanding faculty, the Basel Workshop has established itself as one of the leading international reference meetings in chest wall surgery.
I would be delighted to welcome you to Basel and to celebrate this special 10th anniversary edition together with colleagues and friends from all over the world.
Sincerely,
Prof. Didier Lardinois
